Our Accelerated Graduate Training Programme

To take our company to the next level, we are looking for intelligent, enthusiastic people prepared to work hard to achieve success. We recruit a number of graduate-calibre staff each year. Successful applicants are typically individuals with an excellent academic record, determination to succeed and a real desire to work within the IT software development arena.

In parallel with providing an excellent opportunity for you to develop your technical skills (and this includes working towards industry-recognized Microsoft accreditations such as MCPD, MCTS or MCITP) we will also help you develop your business and commercial skills – accelerating the start of your career in IT.

For those who shine there will be early opportunities for client-facing assignments, with commensurate enhanced financial rewards.

How will we treat you?

DB Consulting employs some of the very best IT professionals in the industry. With their hands-on experience and expertise available to support you, there is no chance you will find yourself out of your depth. We operate both formal mentoring and a more informal ‘buddy’ scheme, and our company ethos promotes team working at all levels, allowing you to seek advice both from peers and from more experienced consultants. Your learning and development will be discussed, planned and set out in an agreed and closely monitored personal development plan.

For those wishing to gain further business-related qualifications over and above the standard training programme, we provide support and full or partial financial assistance.

Where will you work?

Initially you will be based in our office in the centre of Windsor, Berkshire. Windsor is a truly cosmopolitan town, a great place to work with a wide range of places to eat, drink and shop. Our office is just a short walk from both main line train stations (connecting to Paddington and Waterloo), and is very easy to reach from the motorway network.

After completing the Accelerated Graduate Training Programme, we may ask you to continue to work in our Windsor office or you may be assigned to work at any one of our customer sites, which typically are in the South East of England and for the most part conveniently located in central London or near the M25, M3, M4, M40 or M1 motorways, and almost always accessible by train or tube. It is essential that after your training is complete you are willing to be flexible when it comes to location.

What does the Programme offer?

The Programme provides you with the opportunity to really get to grips with modern enterprise-class technologies, working for a company that is big enough to offer a career path but small enough to treat you as an individual and a valued member of the team. It will not be solid training: in parallel with training, you will be working on ‘live’ projects, supported all the way as you build your business, technical and commercial skills.

The pace at which you move through the Programme will depend on you. We expect that your initial training will take six to nine months, but if you want (or need) to spend longer in one particular area you can, and if we feel that you can progress faster we will tell you.

The main aim of the programme is to build highly-skilled software developers, however, after your initial training, you could be involved in any aspect of our projects, from requirements analysis and application design through to software development and technical architecture work.

Longer term, your career could take you into a Technical Architect, Project Manager or Business Analyst role, or even into Pre-sales, Sales and Account Management. The Programme is designed to give you a firm grounding in IT best practice; after that, a lot will depend on you, and how you apply what you have learned. For the brightest and the most determined, the possibilities are wide and the potential unlimited.

Will you fit in?

Our culture is one of hard work, selflessness, flexibility and teamwork. You will need to bring enthusiasm, a willingness to take personal responsibility, and determination to succeed. These characteristics underpin our successes and our ambitions for future growth.

That said, it is not all nose to the grindstone. We like to celebrate success too!
