Working For DB Consulting
DB Consulting works with customers of all sizes and across many sectors, including retail, travel, leisure, financial services, manufacturing, distribution, telecommunications and charities.
In an industry dominated by technology product vendors, we believe it is important to remain focused on solving business issues. Although awarded the highest levels of technical accreditation by Microsoft, Oracle, IBM and other technology vendors, we remain determinedly independent, able to offer objective, impartial advice and guidance.
The marketplace is highly competitive, and we have to compete with the large technology companies, outsourcing firms and management consultancies. Customers choose us because we are focused, because we are flexible, and because we offer greater value.
A combination of strong IT skills, practical experience and a working style which encourages collaboration with customers' internal staff allows us to assemble multidisciplinary teams capable of delivering complex projects to agreed budgets and timescales.
It may be no more than a cliché in other companies, but we really do believe that it is our consulting team which make our company what it is, and we try very hard to ensure we create a working environment and culture which beats anything our competitors can offer.
We work in teams, and we prize a team ethic and team performance. That said, we treat each employee as an individual. A personalised appraisal process identifies individual training requirements and creates a framework for establishing personal objectives and tailored personal development plans.
We always take into account where our consultants live when resourcing assignments. We know that staying away from home for long periods is not something to look forward to, and we try to avoid that where possible.
It is true, however, that many of our consultants spend the majority of their time working on customer sites, and maintaining a sense of camaraderie so that consultants do not feel remote from colleagues does require us to put in extra effort. We actively encourage and support employee interaction, via regular 'company days' which give all our employees an opportunity to contribute views and ideas to help us improve, and through frequent informal get-togethers. We aim to retain the culture and practices of a small, vibrant company so that as we grow people continue to feel they are an important part of the organisation.
Not all work is performed at customer sites, however. Sometimes consultants do work out of our Windsor office, or perhaps find themselves just 'passing through' from one assignment to the next. When in the office you will find the atmosphere is focused rather than frenetic, professional, but hopefully not dull!
