Business Intelligence

To know how your business is performing, you need information. Excel has its uses but, when you need to see the whole picture, spreadsheets go only so far; and consolidating data in Excel is both time consuming and error-prone.

Business Intelligence (BI) delivers deeper insight into business performance, breaking down data silos and translating data into meaningful, up-to-date information.

BI covers a broad range of applications and technologies for storing and analysing data, typically encompassing data warehousing, including extract-transform-load processes; KPI reporting; dashboards; ad hoc query and data mining; statistical analysis; and predictive analytics.

BI projects are notorious for running late. When we tackle a BI project we work at pace and within strict budgetary controls to ensure a positive return on investment.

First Choice Holidays

A series of strategic acquisitions had left First Choice with fragmented information sources and no quick means of producing accurate and detailed reporting across the various business lines. To address this issue, data had to be gathered from multiple sources, the various definitions of the same data item had to be rationalised in order to allow integration, and an efficient way to collect and process vast amount of data every day had to be determined.

DB Consulting designed a new data warehouse, utilising parallel programming techniques to process data and optimise the utillisation of hardware resources available. The data warehouse provides a robust and comprehensive management reporting and data mining environment for finance, sales, seat bookings and yield management.
