DB Consulting concentrates on application design and development using Microsoft enterprise class technologies.

We focus on developing business applications using the latest UX technologies – Expression Blend, Silverlight, Windows Presentation Foundation and XAML - and we couple design expertise with backend technical nous, project planning skills, extensive project management experience and a collaborative approach to ensure project delivery.

Some cutomers engage us on a consultancy basis, to inject expertise or to QA the designs produced by their internal team. Alternatively, we can take on responsibility for delivery of a project. Either way, if expert technical input and is required to guarantee application performance, reliability and maintainability, our experience can prove invaluable.

Lorien

Microsoft SharePoint had already been chosen by Lorien, but the project had encountered a range of teething problems, and the content management and collaboration components were slow and unreliable.

DB Consulting undertook a short assignment to analyse root-cause problems and create a correction plan. SharePoint was then re-configured to optimise the environment for use at Lorien. From start to finish the project took just one week.

High Street Retailer

This innovative retailer operates a unique business model based on a combination of opportunistic buying and no-frills stores. Managing direct relationships with thousands of suppliers worldwide demands a highly complex planning and logistics operation. The challenge for DB Consulting was to develop a suite of bespoke, integrated .NET Silverlight applications to support business growth, particularly in the areas of Merchandising and Buying.

Working at pace, we established a ’product backlog’ and initiated a rolling programme of application delivery. The agile approach has allowed users to continue with day-to-day tasks whilst being able to contribute to the incremental delivery of new systems and enhancements.

Action for Children

Action for Children had chosen a new HR system; the challenge for DB Consulting was to integrate this new system with existing finance and resource management systems.

Installing and configuring the new HR system was straightforward. Our focus was on creating a set of interfaces between the new HR system and existing internal systems, including financial management systems (payroll, expenses processing, etc), the project repository, CRM and Case Managment systems. The solution incoroporated both BizTalk and .NET code, using pre-built and custom adapters to integrate with existing systems.

Druces

Druces LLP is a leading firm of Corporate & Commercial and Property lawyers based in the City of London. Druces lawyers work in cross-functional teams to deliver services to clients. Druces’s IT team was challenged to deliver a secure intranet to support this collaborative style of working.

On paper, Microsoft SharePoint offered a solution, but with no in-house expertise, the decision was made to bring in experienced Sharepoint developers to achieve the desired result. DB Consulting prioritised the key requirements, building a ’release 1′ intranet in five days, including news; document management; workflows with calendars viewable by department and integrated into Microsoft Outlook; a private discussion forum for partners only, including ’eyes only’ security, and enterprise search.
